An Introduction to Laser Therapy for the Dental Hygienist and Oral Health Therapist
The introduction of laser therapy in dental hygiene has revolutionized the treatment and prevention available in the general dental practice. With around 80% of the adult population having some form of periodontal disease, laser therapy is an effective tool in the hygiene department. Lasers offer treatment options to patients that give more precise outcomes, incorporate easily into treatment plans, and can be implemented for a wide variety of cases. This course is designed to give the hygienist an introduction to the uses of laser therapy in dental hygiene. It will give the hygienist an understanding of the basic treatment modalities that can be used everyday in the hygiene room. This course will review the science behind why laser therapy works, and how it can be an important tool to aid in gingival and overall health. The course will also provide the hygienist with an understanding of how they can train and gain certification.
